Endovascular interventions (e.g. to dissolve blood clots) place high demands on the attending physicians. The handling of catheters and guide wires requires a high degree of practice. The training should enable them to master the complex navigation of the instruments while avoiding dangerous complications such as vascular ruptures. The goal of CatHERA is therefore to develop an intelligent phantom for sensor-based teaching and learning of endovascular interventions with catheters.
